Will Murphy is not a politician. He is a husband, a father, a friend, a neighbor, a teacher, and a lawyer, and like many people across our District, he just simply has had enough. Enough of a government that stabs people in the back instead of watching their backs. Enough of a government where elected officials spend decades in D.C. making themselves multimillionaires at the people’s expense. Enough of a government paralyzed by radical ideologies on both sides that have nothing to do with real people and their daily lives. And, in the wake of the George Santos scandal, he looks at the people stepping up to restore our faith in government and, sadly, just sees more of the same on both sides. He sees no one who will speak and fight for our children, for our families, for our small businesses, and for what really matters to us. Will Murphy is stepping up. He is stepping up to give people the choice they deserve on the ballot. The choice to send a real person, one of their own, to fight for real solutions to the very real problems affecting their lives.

Unlike his opponents, Will’s life story is the story of our District. Born in Mineola, he spent his earliest years in Farmingdale and Bethpage before growing up in the Half Hollow Hills Central School District, attending college at New York University, and attending law school at the Touro University Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center where his greatest accomplishment was meeting his future wife, Megan when both were members of the Moot Court Honors Board of Advocates. Upon his admission to the bar, Will served as a dedicated federal court litigator fighting for labor unions and victims of employment discrimination before starting his own solo practice where he most notably represented local, small, blue-collar businesses in our District against major insurance companies. Pursuing his passion for inspiring young people, Will planted roots in Queens when he joined St. John’s University in 2014, first as an administrator and, subsequently, as a full-time faculty member in the Division of Criminal Justice, Legal Studies, and Homeland Security. In 2021, he received the St. John’s University Faculty Excellence in Student Engagement Award, the highest honor a faculty member can receive, among countless other honors through the years including prestigious “King of Queens” and “Leadership in Law” distinctions from local media and citations of merit from our state senate, state assembly, and New York City Council.

Will’s proudest achievement, however, is and always will be his family. Once married, Will and Megan decided to start their story together where Will’s story began, in Farmingdale. Together, they attribute the opportunities they have been blessed with throughout their lives to our District, its safe and clean communities, its outstanding public schools, and its strong local engagement and pride. They chose to start and raise their family here for those very reasons, giving birth to their three-year-old son, Connor, who is himself excited to become a big brother as their family welcomes another little boy, Aidan, in just a few short weeks.

With more to lose than to gain, it is obvious why Will and Megan choose to fight and what they are fighting for. It is not ambition, ego, or self-interest, like all of Will’s opponents who notably stand alone in their campaigns. They will fight tirelessly for the community they represent, placing people above partisanship, public service over personal gain, and results over fancy rhetoric. They will fight tirelessly because they are authentic, genuine, everyday people, LIKE YOU, who have simply had enough and refuse to let bad politics and aspiring career politicians deprive their children, neighbors, and all other members of our District’s community the same opportunities who made them the people that they are.
